Marine and river educational institutions. maritime education

Sailors, and even more so with university degrees, are one of the most sought-after professions in the world. Those school graduates who decide to choose a maritime university will definitely not be left without work in the foreseeable future, because transportation by water - one of the cheapest and most reliable ways to move large volumes of cargo - is not going to give up its position as the most popular type of international transportation. However, the profession is associated with strong physical and psychological stress, so only people with excellent health can master it.

List of universities

There are maritime universities in many regions of the country. There are more than 40 of them in total. Not as many as educational institutions that train lawyers and economists. There are quite objective reasons for this - the less attractive profession for applicants and the complex technical base that the university must be equipped with for the normal organization of the learning process.

The list presented in the table shows the territorial spread of institutions with the number of budget places for the current enrollment and the cost of paid education.

Most universities conduct an impressive recruitment for budget places. This is due to the high demand for specialists in this industry in the economy.

Considering the serious prices for paid training, many maritime institutes in Russia provide discounts. In particular, at ASTU, the base price can be reduced for applicants with high USE scores(30% for those who have more than 200 points in three subjects, 25% for those who enter with results in the range of 170-199 and 20% for those who score from 130 to 169 points in exams).

Many maritime universities Russia have branches in other cities. For example, you can learn the profession of a sailor in the departments of VSUVT in Perm or Astrakhan. Applicants residing in Yakutsk or Omsk can enter the branch of SGUVT opened in these regions. The Institute of Water Transport named after G. Ya. Sedov, located in Rostov-on-Don, is a structural subdivision of the University. Ushakov.

Table 2. Specialties at Russian Maritime Universities

Education is conducted in full-time, part-time and fully part-time format. The term of mastering the program depends on the direction and level of training. You can become a bachelor in 4 years, and a specialist in 5 years. The time of study in the specialty "navigation" is slightly longer than usual (5.5 years in full-time and 6.5 years in part-time format).

Higher maritime education can be obtained at the bachelor's, specialist's and master's levels. Students study a complex of specialized disciplines (design, CAD and shipbuilding technology, hull design, ship theory, hydromechanics, etc.). Sophomores who show good results in their studies are often attracted to scientific research and receive grants. Often, work is carried out under contracts with leading enterprises in the industry.

Admission rules

Maritime institutes accept school graduates by competition USE results. Items required for admission:

  • Russian language;
  • profile mathematics;
  • physics (or informatics and ICT).

Each university sets the minimum thresholds individually. But in order to pass the selection, decent grades for the exam are not enough. Firstly, if there is a competition for the budget (and, as a rule, it always happens), higher results will be required than those of rivals. Secondly, in disputable situations (with an equal number of points), many maritime universities in Russia hold a certificate competition. Thirdly, taking into account the specifics of the future profession and the difficult (sometimes even harmful) conditions in which they have to work, applicants must undergo psychological testing for professional suitability and a medical examination.

The rest of the package of submitted documents is standard:

  • application in the prescribed form;
  • a photocopy of the passport;
  • consent to the processing of personal data;
  • the original of the certificate or other document on education along with the application;
  • photo for documents (quantity and format to be specified in admission committee university);
  • documents confirming the availability of benefits upon admission;
  • diplomas of winners of the Olympiads and other evidence of personal achievements (if any);
  • certificate of medical examination.

The specified list is indicative, the exact set of documents must be specified at the place of receipt.

According to the all-Russian admission rules for admission to higher maritime educational establishments required to pass a medical examination. Before starting it, the applicant must prepare:

  • photocopied medical policy;
  • a photocopy of the passport;
  • copy of registration certificate or military ID (for boys);
  • copy of SNILS (or personal registration number of the insured person);
  • vaccination certificate;
  • blood test for hepatitis;
  • an extract from the clinic at the place of registration of the applicant;
  • conclusion from the dentist;
  • certificates from a tuberculosis dispensary, a psychiatrist, a narcologist and a dermatovenereologist.

Most civilian maritime universities annually provide an impressive number of state-funded places, so the level of passing scores does not go off scale, especially for the target enrollment.

The value of passing scores for universities is shown in the table and on the graph.

* Passing scores are presented for the specialties available at the university (the order of indicators corresponds to the order of codes in Table 2).

For the convenience of displaying, the diagram shows the passing scores not for all specialties at the university, but only the highest values.

The highest threshold is at the Maritime University. Ushakov. The Kazan Scientific Research Technical University is not far behind it. In this university, the passing score for shipbuilding was 205. According to statistics, it is easiest to become a student at the Volga University of Water Transport (this required only 130 points last year).

Where do graduates work?

All bachelors and specialists who graduated from maritime higher educational institutions in Russia can be conditionally divided into 2 groups: sailors and shipbuilders. The former spend most of their time on the water (captains and their assistants, mechanics, electromechanics, boatswains and junior officers). The latter are involved in the field of construction and repair (engineer, shipbuilding production technologist, shipbuilder, designer, mechanic).

Places of possible employment:

  • surface transport;
  • shipping companies;
  • enterprises engaged in fishing;
  • logistics and forwarding centers;
  • port administration;
  • research institutes and design organizations;
  • security services and supervisory authorities for shipping and other enterprises of the fleet, transportation or fishing industries.

Future work has one specificity - the ship's crew must be able to move to any part of the world to transport cargo. Therefore, maritime universities issue international diplomas - most often a standard Russian document has an appendix translated into English. By the way, knowledge of a foreign language is a prerequisite for employment as a seafarer.

Finding a job on your own is not an easy task, except for those cases when the student studied according to the integrated training system (it is practiced by Sevmashvtuz). The easiest way to find a job is to use the services of intermediaries. In the maritime industry, crewing companies are engaged in the selection of personnel.

The profession of a sailor is recognized as one of the most difficult in the world. If the desire to master it is so great that they are not afraid of the upcoming difficulties, Russian maritime universities are able to provide quality education in this area, and it will be highly quoted abroad as well.

4.1. The procedure for determining the suitability of candidates for admission for health reasons

One of the main requirements for citizens entering military educational institutions is the assessment of their health status based on the results of a medical examination. Citizens entering military educational institutions must, for health reasons, meet the requirements established for citizens entering military service by conscription, i.e. fit for military service or fit for military service with minor restrictions.

Before a medical examination, citizens undergo mandatory diagnostic tests in the amount established by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Medical examination of citizens entering the university is carried out in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 4, 2013 No. 565 “On approval of the Regulations on military medical examination”.

The final medical examination of citizens entering the university is carried out by a non-staff temporary military medical commission (VVK), created by order of the head of TOVVMU.

The IHC consists of a surgeon, a therapist, a neuropathologist, an ophthalmologist, an otolaryngologist, a dermatovenereologist, a dentist, and a committee secretary. If necessary, doctors of other specialties are included in the commission.

Citizens arriving for the final medical examination must have with them:

  • fluorographic (X-ray) examination of the chest organs in two projections;
  • radiography of the paranasal sinuses; ECG (research at rest and after exercise); general blood analysis;
  • results of tests for the presence of HIV infection, for narcotic substances and serological reactions to JuU;
  • general urine analysis; information about being registered (observed) for mental disorders, drug addiction, alcoholism, substance abuse, drug abuse and other toxic substances, infection with the human immunodeficiency virus, on dispensary observation for other diseases, indicating the diagnosis and date of registration (observation);
  • medical record of the outpatient and, if necessary, other medical documents(X-rays, protocols of special research methods) characterizing the state of his health.

In addition, an additional study of feces for helminth eggs and a dysentery group, sowing from the pharynx and nose for diphtheria is carried out.

Graduates of Suvorov (cadet) military schools, lyceums with enhanced military physical training arrive:

  • with a medical book, which should reflect the results of annual in-depth and control medical examinations and requests for medical help;
  • a medical examination card of a citizen entering a military educational institution, and the results of research.

If a graduate of a Suvorov (cadet) military school, a lyceum with enhanced military physical training does not have a medical book, an examination is not carried out.

Specialist doctors, based on the results of a medical examination of a citizen, issue a conclusion on his suitability or unfitness for admission to a military educational institution in his specialty.
